What do I need to have ready on the day of sale?
When arranging your vehicle collection or drop-off appointment, it's important to prepare the necessary documents in advance. This ensures a smooth and efficient process on the day of the handover. Here's a checklist of the items you'll need to have ready:
If you are the registered keeper of the vehicle:
- V5C vehicle registration document (logbook).
- MOT certificate (if applicable).
- All spare keys for your car.
- Photo ID (driving licence or passport).
- Proof of address (e.g., utility bill, bank statement, council tax statement) matching the address on the V5C document.
- Authority from your finance company (if applicable).
- Service record book, car handbook, locking wheel nuts (if available), radio and key codes (if applicable).
- Your UK bank details.
- Sufficient fuel (fuel light should not be on).
- If your vehicle is VAT qualifying: the VAT invoice.
If you are not the registered keeper of the vehicle, in addition to the above, you'll also need:
- Written authorisation from the registered keeper confirming your ability to sell the car.
- Photo ID (driving licence or passport) of the registered keeper.
